My story

Before the age of 35, I slept wonderfully—sleep was never a problem for me. I worked as a developer, and everything in my life seemed balanced. However, then I started experiencing back pain that disrupted my sleep for the first time, preventing me from sleeping beyond six hours. Each night, I woke up due to pain, which gradually affected my health and mood. I tried to make up for the lost sleep with afternoon naps, but this completely disrupted my sleep schedule. Soon, I found it increasingly difficult to fall asleep at night. My sleep problems worsened, and before long, I was only getting 3-4 hours of sleep at night, if that.

I began seeking help in Tallinn but was surprised by how little support there was for sleep issues. Most sleep clinics were located in Tartu, and their waiting times extended up to six months. Thus began my personal journey with sleep—I struggled with insomnia for over two years, trying various therapies, supplements, medications, and undergoing several sleep studies. I wanted to find a solution without sleep medications but also tried antidepressants and sleep aids like zolpidem (Ambien), which unfortunately made my situation worse.

My insomnia eventually led to exhaustion and, unfortunately, depression. On two separate occasions, I fell into such a severe state that weeks went by with almost no sleep. The depression caused by insomnia temporarily forced me to take stronger antidepressants, as I simply didn't know what else to do. This was the hardest period of my life. During this time, I started to change my life significantly and systematically took control of improving my sleep.

I have always been the type of person who dives deeply into subjects that truly resonate with me. So, I began to study sleep in depth, and the more I learned, the more fascinated I became. I completed training and learned from several sleep specialists until I finally obtained my CBT-I certification for insomnia treatment (cbtiforinsomnia.com).

Although I had long considered creating something in the IT field, none of the ideas felt right. My personal experience with sleep problems and deep interest in this field led me down a different path—I felt it was my calling. Now, I want to help others who face the same challenges I experienced and offer them support through my personal experience and the knowledge I have gained along my journey
